Training for the Future
" Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6

Whose responsibility is it to train our children? How involved are you in training your child? These questions are often asked but rarely answered. Let's take a moment and consider the facts concerning this matter and our role as parents in the training of our children.

When something in society goes wrong involving a young person, we often immediately look for someone to blame. What caused this reckless behavior? Is it a breakdown in society? How about the economy? Maybe it's a political problem! The school? Peer pressure, that's got to be it! We have all heard these reasons along with others, such as video games, internet, and even blaming the days in which we live.

If we will be willing to take an honest look at the Biblical principles for parenting and apply them to our individual lives, we will be far ahead when it comes to raising our children. Having a Christian home starts with having Christians living in the home. Have you as parents sat down and clearly explained to your children God's will for them to be saved and showed them from the Bible how to receive Christ into their heart? If not do that today! Secondly, not only must those in the home know Christ, but we need to live obediently to God's word; starting with the parents! Paul writing to Timothy in I Timothy 4:12, says " ...be thou an example of the believers..." Does your life exemplify a spirit filled life or one of defeat?

To answer our earlier question, it is ultimately the parents responsibility to train their children.  We can recruit help, but we should never relinquish our leadership.  Read and apply the Bible to your life and family.  Our future will bear the results of our training the children that God has given us.  May God Bless You and Your Family!
