A Time of War

In today, as in days gone by, we often find ourselves in a battle when dealing with life. It seems that the things of God are under attack more and more each day and we find ourselves crippled in our spiritual walk. The Bible has many things to say about the last days before Christ's return, one of which is found in  II Timothy 3:1-5, " This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away."

The above passage gives insight as to the condition of our times. Let's compare and contrast to the book of Ephesians were we find the instruction for spiritual warfare. It speaks of men being lovers of their own selves as compared to Ephesians 5:25 were husbands are told to love their wives as Christ loved the church. II Timothy also speaks of pride and a covetous mindset where in Ephesians 5:22 we find that wives are to have a willing
submissive spirit to their own husbands. Timothy mentions children being disobedient were Ephesians 6:1-2 gives a direct commandment for children to obey their parents. Timothy then speaks of traitors, heady, and highminded, but Ephesians 6:5-9 gives much better instruction for relationships between employee and employer.

What we notice here is a pattern of behavior leading up to the passage in Ephesians 6:11 where we are told to " put on the whole armor of God..." Then in verse twelve we find our that our war is not the with flesh and blood, but it is a spiritual warfare.

Let's be diligent in our homes to protect the heart of those that live there, and help make sure that we don't become a casualty of these times and the spiritual warfare we are facing.
