Throughout the Book of Exodus

" And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven."  Exodus 17:14

God has recorded for us in the Bible some extraordinary events that took place in the lives of people just like you and I.

Throughout the book of Exodus we have the story of the children of Israel while in the wilderness between Egypt and the Promised Land. Many things take place during this forty year procession but through it all, the LORD provides for them over and over again.

In the seventeenth chapter we have an event in which Amalek wars against the children of Israel. We find in verse eleven that when Moses held up his hand, Israel prevailed, but when he became tired and his hands fell, Amalek prevailed. Aaron and Hur, which was upon the mountain with Moses, took a stone and put under Moses so that he could sit down. As Moses sat there with his hands raised, Aaron and Hur then stood on each side and assisted in holding up his hands. The result was a great victory for the children of Israel.

After the battle, the LORD told Moses to write this down for a memorial so that the generations to come would know the victory that God provided over Amalek.

The Bible records for us the story of Christ's love and His victory over sin. Our life and testimony should serve as a memorial to others that speaks of His power and victory over sin in our life.
