New Year 2017

Dear Friends,

Now that 2017 is well underway, many people have a hard time putting 2016 in the past. For example, it is very common to get in the habit of dating our checks for last year, also this is the time that the bills come due for last month/year.

In like fashion, as we move through life, we need to remember that our past often shows up at the most inconvenient times. Seldom do we make a decision that doesn't have repercussions for our future.

The Bible says that we are born with a sinful nature, therefore we all are sinners. Our sinful actions will always leave a mark on our future. So what is a person to do? How do we change so that we don't have to live with a lifetime of regrets?

We find the answer in God's word. Upon a person recognizing their sinful condition, confessing to God that they are a sinner, having a repentant heart, and by faith believing that what Christ died on Calvary was to pay for their sin, the Bible says we become new creatures in Christ and are given the power to be called the children of God. " For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

Although life's decisions may have consequences for this life, eternal decisions have eternal benefits. Today is the day of salvation; not only for a home in glory, but also for your life now. The best way to stop bad consequences is to stop making bad decisions. Christ said to those that are saved, He will be your shepherd. Let's determine today to let Him lead us in our decisions today and for the days to come.
