Whether we acknowledge it or not, influence impacts our life on a daily basis. The environment we live in plays a large part in the way we think. We often only think of peer pressure affecting teenagers and young people. In reality, adults are just as guilty about comparing themselves to their peers as well.
The apostle, Paul, told Timothy to "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12. Regardless of the behavior of those around us, as Christians, we are to be an example of Christ in us. Our life should be one of honesty, faith and holiness. The way we think wil always affect our behavior.
The Bible in Philippians 4:8, gives us a list of things to think about in our daily life. It concludes in verse 9 by saying, "these things...do; and the God of peace will be with you." There is a direct relationshop between thinking and doing. Let's determine to be a Godly influence on others while also guarding our heart and mind against the influences of this world.
